Our ADHD Assessment Process
Our ADHD assessments follow a structured and evidence-informed process to explore whether attention, activity and impulsivity difficulties are: persistent over time, present across multiple settings and impacting day-to-day functioning.
The assessment process may include:
A detailed discussion exploring: current difficulties, developmental history, education or work experiences, emotional wellbeing and daily functioning.
Structured questionnaires may be completed by: the individual, parents or carers, teachers, partners or other relevant adults.
This helps build a clearer understanding of how symptoms present across different environments.
Where appropriate, a QB Check may be used as part of the assessment process. This computer-based screening tool provides additional objective information relating to attention, impulsivity and activity levels.
ADHD symptoms typically present across more than one area of life. We therefore explore how difficulties may impact: home life, education, work, relationships and social environments.
Part of the assessment process involves considering whether difficulties may be better explained by other factors such as: anxiety, trauma, sensory processing differences, sleep difficulties, mental health needs and other neurodevelopmental differences.

Following completion of the assessment you will receive:
- A comprehensive clinical report
- Recommendations and next steps
- Guidance around support strategies where appropriate
- Signposting to relevant services and resources

Do I need a referral for a private ADHD assessment?
No, you do not need a referral to book a private ADHD assessment at Neuro Nest Clinic. You can self-refer or you may be referred by a GP, psychologist, teacher or other health professional if you prefer.
