At Neuro Nest Clinic, we understand that the assessment process can feel overwhelming, and you may have many questions before getting started.

Our goal is to make the experience as clear, supportive, and transparent as possible.

Below, you'll find answers to some of the most common questions about our Autism, ADHD, and Sensory Processing assessments.

Please get in touch if you have any further questions.

Who can be assessed at Neuro Nest Clinic?

We welcome children, adolescents, and adults for assessments. Our clinicians tailor each assessment to the individual's developmental stage, life experiences, and areas of concern to ensure meaningful and accurate outcomes.

What age groups do you assess?

We offer assessments for children, adolescents, and adults. The approach, tools, and strategies used are carefully selected to match each age group's unique developmental needs.

Do I need a referral to book an assessment?

No referral is required. You can contact us directly to self-refer, or you may be referred by a GP, psychologist, teacher, or other health professional if you prefer.

How do I know if my child or I should be assessed?

If you or your child experience ongoing challenges with attention, social communication, behaviour, or sensory processing, an assessment can provide clarity and direction. You can book our free 20-minute video consultation to discuss your concerns, and together we can decide whether any of our assessments may be appropriate to move forward with.

How long does the assessment process take?

The timeframe varies depending on the type of assessment and individual needs. Most assessments are completed over several sessions, followed by a detailed feedback meeting and written report within a few weeks.

How long is the waiting list?

Unlike many NHS services, we aim to see clients within weeks, not years. The typical wait time for an initial free consultation is around 2-4 weeks, with the main assessment usually scheduled within 4-8 weeks, depending on availability and demand.

Are the assessments face to face or online?

We offer a combination of both. Some parts of the assessment can be completed conveniently online via secure video call, while others are conducted in-person in our therapy space. Face-to-face sessions are essential for observing key behaviours and ensuring the most accurate results.

Why is a face to face assessment important?

Face-to-face assessments are crucial for accuracy, reliability, and best practice. In-person interactions allow our clinicians to observe subtle social cues, body language, and sensory responses that are often difficult to capture online. This helps ensure your results are both thorough and clinically sound.

Why are face to face assessments filmed?

At Neuro Nest, we adhere to the highest standards of clinical practice. In line with current professional guidelines and research evidence, we video-record certain parts of our assessments. This ensures:

  • The lead assessor can carefully review the session afterwards for completeness and accuracy.
  • A second qualified professional (such as a clinical psychologist or psychiatrist) can independently review and score the assessment.

This double-review process enhances reliability and ensures the most accurate and fair diagnostic outcome possible.

How can I prepare for the assessment?

We'll send forms and questionnaires before your appointment. Bringing any previous reports, school feedback, or relevant documents helps our team understand the full picture and provide the most informed assessment possible.

How do I receive my results?

Once the assessment is complete, your clinician will meet with you to go over the findings, discuss next steps, and provide a written report with recommendations and support options.

When do I need to pay for my assessment?

After your free consultation, if you decide to go ahead with a full assessment, we ask for half of the assessment fee upfront to secure your booking.

Once payment is received, we'll confirm your assessment date. After the assessment has been completed and your report is written, the remaining balance is due.

When the second payment is received, your report will be shared and a feedback session will be arranged to go through the results and recommendations together.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule my assessment?

We understand that plans can change. If you need to cancel or move your appointment, please let us know at least 7 days in advance.

  • Cancellations made 7 days or more before your scheduled assessment will receive a full refund of the deposit or can be rescheduled without charge.
  • Cancellations made less than 7 days before the appointment may result in a cancellation fee or loss of the initial payment, as the time has been reserved specifically for you.
  • If you need to reschedule due to illness or an emergency, we'll do our best to offer an alternative date at no extra cost.

We always aim to be flexible and understanding — please contact us as soon as possible if any issues arise.
